Booker Taliaferro Kennedy

Celebrating The Life Of Booker Taliaferro Kennedy Sr.:

After 42 years of dedicated service, Booker retired in May 1992 from GM Fisher Guide at the age of 65, earning full retirement with pension. Retirement didn't slow Booker down. He dedicated himself to daily walking for exercise and this activity also gave him the opportunity to visit with many of his neighbors, something he especially enjoyed. He found a love for doing repairs around the house as well as assisting his neighbors with their repairs. Booker even found a way to make a small profit in his handiness by refurbishing lawn mowers and selling them. He derived much joy in getting together and laughing with family and friends, watching comedy shows and sports on television as well as listening on the radio. He was also a fan of a variety of music including Old School, Blues, R&B and Jazz.

The Reuben and Salena Hall Family Reunion, held every two years, was an event Booker cherished. Even when his health was failing, he only missed one reunion held in Gadsden, Alabama and fortunately he still was able to attend last year's gathering. Family was very important to Booker, him having a love for spending time with his siblings, every year traveling with his brothers and sisters to Lynch, Kentucky to visit their mother and father's gravesite.

In 2000, Booker and his dear wife Miriam celebrated their 50th anniversary, with a small gathering of loved ones and after a long and beautiful marriage of 56 years, Miriam passed away on December 1, 2006.

According to his wishes, Booker passed away at home peacefully having been cared for by his loving family with hospice support.
